My Lord
As the morning mist lifted our most honourable brothers made contact with the disease ridden filth of the Skaven Lord Scurry.
Having positioned our men, which consisted of two units of Thunderers, a bolt thrower and Engineer Harok, the enemy moved towards our lines showing their contempt for their lesser brethren sending them through the swamp. Several of their number were immediately and mercilessly sucked into the depths below. The clan rats moved around the swamp towards our lines whilst protecting their war machine. The filth that is Scurry led the way.
Our righteous brothers opened fire on the slaves with a warning shot deliberately placed over their heads. They did not heed this warning and continued on their march.
The Clan rats were not so fortunate with our secondary group of Thunderers taking a heavy toll of their number. Our bolt thrower skewered 4 of their of their diseased carcasses.
On they came. The slaves lost several more of their number to the swamp, with several more learning their lesson from our superb marksmanship. The clan rats continued in their march around the swamp. Again our thunderers thinned their number and once again our bolt thrower impaled 4 of them.
In true cowardly fashion the slaves, having now escaped the swamp threw their gaseous devices felling several of our number before running for the rear. In their haste several more were taken to the depths of the swamp, leaving only two of them. The clan rats attempted to charge but, showing fear of our troops failed to reach our lines. They were punished for the attempt dwindling their numbers.
All of our attention was now focused upon the clan rats and a terrible price they paid however, four of them including their warlord Scurry reached our lines. It was at that moment that the Gutter runners jumped from the shadows killing Engineer Harok in a storm of poisoned bullets. Scurry and his remaining rats killed several of our number and we remained locked in combat. Now the slaves were out of range, our thunderers turned to face the new threat of the Gutter runners who proceeded to slay our bolt thrower crew after a bitterly fought combat.
Our brave warriors locked in combat against Scurry decided to make a tactical withdrawal. Scurry was unable to keep up with our fleet footedness. Once we regrouped more fire was rained upon him however he withstood the fire storm. Hand to hand combat ensued and we captured they banner slaying all but Scurry. The Gutter runners too managed to survive the hail of bullets showing an agility that even the plague spawned rats could not comprehend.
This brought our engagement to a close and I regret to inform that Scurry escaped.
(Overall this was a draw. With only 40 points separating to the two armies. This was a great game to be a part of. Cheers Ed. Jim)
