A disastrous day

My Lord

I regret to inform you of defeat. Our scout force sent to the forests to the east have met with disaster.

As the morning mists cleared our brave kin saw before them a horde of bipedal reptiles, blue in colour and armed with javelin, Spear and shield. Our forces assembled quickly forming a fire base around a raised position. On our right and left flanks were a squad of thunderers whilst the centre was held by a unit of quarrellers. Behind them we placed our engines of war, a bolt thrower and a mighty organ gun.

Despite our preparations the enemy stole the march. As our men looked into the rising sun there vision was blinded and did not see the dinosaurs come from the sky until too late.

3 of the beasts attacked our quarrellers with such a ferocious charge that I'm ashamed to report that the nerve of our troops failed. In the haste they loosed a volley felling one of the beasts and wounding another. Sadly this was not enough. Our kin turned to run but we're utterly destroyed by the beasts.

Our thunderers on the right flank faired no better. They stood strong against the enemy, a monstrous creature with lizard being on top. Many of there bullets hit but bounced of the creatures thick hide. The creature screamed into close combat killing several of us. However our kin stood firm.

On our left flank bipedal lizards melted out if the forest.  One second there was forest. The next lizards. We have designated these enemies as chameleons.

The master engineer gave the war machines the order to fire. The Organ gun opened fire but did not kill enough of the orange monsters. The bolt thrower sought to destroy them utterly but missed.

The giant blue beast finally overcame our stalwart thunderers and caused them to flee. In its pursuit the beast attacked and destroyed our bolt thrower. Several of these chameleons died under a storm of bullets forcing the remaining two to turn and flee however there spirit was not broken and they returned.

Always skulking towards our lines were the blue bipedal reptiles with Spear and shields. Our thunderers took a terrible toll upon them.

The orange monster then diverted it's attention to our remaining thunderers but 2 as cut down under a hail of fire. The orange beast tore into our quarrellers before they had chance to regain their composure.  In response the Organ gun opened fire destroying the beast however it's rider, suspect enemy general, survived and joined a unit of smaller reptiles.

The large unit charged into our thunderers and despite killing a total of 10 of their number they proved devestating in combat our kin.

Javelins tipped with poison targeted our engineers overwhelming him. In the end our only remain warrior, a crewman of the Organ gun was sent away in shame. I report that he was so ashamed that the enemy did not see fit to kill him he has now joined the Slayer cult.

Our search for the Golden Tun continues but it is clear now that many others are looking for this might item too.

I have received a dispatch by galloped.  The reinforcements you requested have been dispatched.  With them come the Iron Breakers!

Gaining the Foothold Across the Pond

Having recently lost a potential foothold in across the World Pond, Lord Rib-Tec had to try and establish another location to try and join the fight against the evil Ratmen. Closing his eyes and meditating to a deep trance, he did not stir for one whole cycle of the moon. When he came too he was greeted by the sight of all the servant skinks and his loyal Temple Guard awaiting their instructions. With a single croak, the Slann Mage Priest ordered the Itza brothers to enter the portal and find an area to send troops over safely. Closing his eyes a large portal ripped through reality and time and allowed the blessed brothers lead a small force to the mountains.

Once they arrived they identified smoke and singing coming from the other side of the valley. Flying on his Terradon, Zik scouted ahead with the cover of nightfall identifying a small force of one of the younger races. These all had long hair hanging from their face and constantly seemed to be putting shiny treasures to their mouths and conversing with each other in a language the Skink Chief could identify as having some similar words from his own native tongue. Reporting back to his brother, Zaki ordered 9 of the best Stalker Uxotal and his unit of Chameleon Skinks to place a Lustrian Bloat Toad in the camp and prepare for war. Upon Uxotal's return one of the ancient hunters had been caught and killed. The element of surprise was lost.

The morning came and Zaki saw the bearded beings line up on the mound with sticks and large shiny things that the brothers had not seen before. Ordering the Ripperdactyls be let loose, Zaki joined his spawn kin and nodded to his warrior born brother. Mounting his Terradon, the Skink Chief took to the sky to act as a distraction. The chameleons had snuck forward the previous night and had been eager to gain revenge for their fallen brother. They now emerged from their hiding spot in the woods where two more of their kind had been taken by the alien nature that surrounded them and the cold.

Identifying a target Zik used the convection currents of the mountains to rise up high below him he saw the ravaging Ripperdactyles flying towards the enemy at lightning speed. As they passed below him, he dug his clawed feet into the scaly hide of the winged beast and plummeted towards the enemy. Glancing up he noticed the shine of arrows glinting with the Chotec's blessing and a shriek as one of the Ripperdactyls fell from the sky. A loud series of pops then pulled his attention forward and his Terradon flinched. Confused Zik tried to regain control of his beast by chirping his instructions to her. In an instant the creature tucked her wings in and dived towards the short people with a scream. The Ripperdactyl riders had already assured their furious mounts a satisfaction to their blood lust as Zik plummeted into the unsuspecting enemy. The young race swung their weapons at the Warrior Spawn but all failed to penetrate the protective feathers that Zik had gained from his hunts in Lustria. His aerial abilities proved too much for the brave creatures he was pitted against and the broke trying to save their brothers behind them. Zik knew that he had to hold the line to allow his brother to progress with the foot troops.

Meanwhile on the ground the younger race had taken down two more of Uxotal's clan. This was impressive, no one had ever been able to hit the Great Hunters kin. No one! This was a worthy foe of the hunt. Returning fire with their blow pipes, the chameleons managed to find a chink in the enemies glittering scales and fell one of them. However the accuracy of the hairy faced warriors was too much and left Uxotal alone with only one of his kin. A fear came over the hunter and the skinks turned tail and fled. Sensing something was a miss Zaki closed his eyes but for a moment and put an image of all Uxotal's brothers lieing dead at the hands of their enemy. Filled with a calm rage Uxotal gave a hiss and began to sneak forward once again. Zaki opened his eyes to find his skink brothers sprinting forward. He joined them to try and finish the hunt once and for all.

Zik flew into the next unit. A large machine not dissimilar to the one he had seen on the back of the great Stegadons back in his home land. There was no time to miss his homeland now as the red veil of battle had descended over him. Slicing through them he continued his pursuit of the metal younger race and eventually made them meet their end. Hearing a horrible screech, Zik saw the last of the Ripperdactyls fall and it was at this point that he heard the loud bang. Zik's Terradon fell out of the sky while Zik could only hold on and hope...

Having been blessing his brother for the battle with the toughness of the ancient Bastiladon's, Zaki saw his brother fall and land with a thud. Looking back to see the small unit of Saurus warriors trudging up behind the vanguard he knew that he had to hold the line for a little longer. He cast a spell to give his skink kin the strength to throw their javelins true and strong. He hoped this would work before anymore of his race fell. Their numbers would be needed against the vermin host at a later date. Releasing a hail of Obsinite, Zaki saw two of the younger race fall and he spotted one take up the mantle. This one looked bigger to Zaki than the others and so he focused his fire on it.

Zik woke up to a comforting chattering, his brother had arrived. Behind her heard a bellowing roar as the Saurus charged into the other creatures with the loud sticks. He ran to join his brother once again. Zaki could not show his happiness for his brother's survival and carried on hissing orders to his unit of skirmishers. He did however see many Saurus felled to these loud sticks and he would be sure to tell Lord Rib- Tec for the next time these two races meet. The Saurus finally broke into the unit. The young race fought with skill and courage, but was eventually overwhelmed by the primeval fury that these soldiers were spawned for.

The battle ended with only one bearded creature left. Approaching him the brothers recognized the word he used for mercy. Both Zaki and Zik looked into the eyes of the last Dwarf. The pair looked as the creature's expression did not change. There was rage in this one, fire that could not be quelled by the mercy they had shown. Zaki pointed to the West and the Dwarf began to walk away.

The battle was won and the Lizardmen now had a foothold in the peaks over looking the Old World.

Warboss Spuzgob can't believe his ears!

If it wasn't that his normally reliable Black Orc Champion Basha had confirmed what had happened Warboss Spuzgob would have eaten the squeaky little night goblin in front of him - mage or no mage.

"So tell me again, one more time" - he asked, scratching his thick skull.  "I sent you to look for Gork's cup - and then what happened?"

"Well", said the puffed up little mage this is what happened"...

The Warriors of Chaos lined up ahead - a line of slavering hounds, two chariots behind them and a unit of mounted warriors to their side.

The ladz put the Doom Diver on the hill, there was a large unit of night goblins with a few loonies in 'em, the black orcs and on either side- wolves and spiders.  Before you could say Gutrat's a sneaky gobo, the spiders disappeared into the woods and the wolves were off chasing across the field like there was a herd of squigs after 'em.

So we wound up the doom diver and I dunno - somat went terrible wrong.  It just sort of broke.  The gobbo smashed into the post I fink and that was that - bits of wood everywhere!  Didn't fire once nor nuffink.

And , well then it got a bit confusing - we all marched forwards.  I cast night shroud to keep the ladz hidden.  We heard a load of horrible snarling off in the distance - never did see them wolf boyz again - but there was a few less of them big dogs but they was a lot fatter.

Anywayz we got close enough to let the loonies loose - they wuz brill.  Smashed straight through them tin boyz on their moving dinner.  But blow me the tin boyz panicked - not like them, theyz usually hard az nailz.  But they ran straight through all the night gobbos - we got one though.

So they had to turn round smartish.  But then one of them charioty things ran straight at one of the loonies - got smashed to bitz and the other ran into Basha's lot.  Well all hell breaks loose then.

A load of Bashas lot were only fit for cookin, but the rest of em wiv Basha, picked up them big axes and started bashing it good and proper.  Then the spiders come pouring out of the woods an all.  And that was the end of that.

Them two loonies left span into each other and strangled themselves.  More for the pot.  So that's how it was.  The spiders set off after them there dogs - tastes nice they do.  And Basha and his ladz comes over to 'elp us wiv the tin boyz.  But them tin boyz didn't wait and attacked us.

Well we wuz doin ok, but themz not nice ter fight but there wuz loadz of us though.  Well to start wiv anyway.

So the spiders et all 'em dogs and starts scuttling back.

Basha's getting closer and then - we managed to duck them tin boyz and gut the horses - two of 'em.  So then there's only the one left and he turns tail to run - but we caught him.  So there's loadz 'ter eat for everyone!

Well thought Spuzgob.  He's got a point - no cup yet, but loads ter eat is always good.

The Quik Death

With the End- Times in full swing and the jungle realm in more peril than ever before, the lizardmen are forced to fight in their own small forces. Scattered due to the invasion of the Ratmen and the death of Lord Matzimundi.

Quik-Witi a humble servant of the Slann lead his small force. Karak and his 19 saurus warriors and Ankelo carrying the mighty solar engine that the cold-blooded warriors worshiped as a gift from the lord of the sun Chotec.

It was after many a great battle that Quik-Witi had proven himself a careful leader and so, Lord Rib-Tec thought it proper for the small priest to lead his war band through a portal to the other side of the world pond. The white skink stepped through the portal and with him his forces.

Looking at his surroundings he noticed the area was a clearing with little or no cover. A muddy pool was the only obstical in sight but something about the very air of this place was different. Back in Lustria, the jungle felt more savage and primeval. Not here. Here the air itself felt alive and to be communicating with the eart below and the fauna surrounding the scaled armada.

The priest spotted in the corner of the opening a gleam of light through the air and struck the floor directly next to him. This took Quik- Witi a back and he scuttled immediately to the safety of Karnak's unit. Looking to the North he spotted a group of beings, much like the ones that tried to raid the precious treasures of the Lustrian Temples. These however were one of the younger races that were attuned to the winds of magic and everything natural. Readying his troops to try a forward attack Quik-Witi chattered orders to Ankelo's nimble skink handelers and marched the living fortress towards the enemy. Lumbering forward another arrow landed at the feet of Quick-Witi. Another group with bows in their hands were to the West of the warband! They were trapped.

The fight didn't last long. The trees appeared out of the ground as a wall of spears set up to challenge Karnak's preditors. Giving a bellowing roar, the Saurus chief ran towards the Elves with all their animalistic power, however in a gleam of silver, three of the saurus were struck down before they even had a chance to swing. Unmoved the bricks continued to scrap tooth and nail. As this was happening the might Bastiladon was felled by a giant shadow. The magical cannon ball went through the great lizards Armour like butter and the skink handlers were squashed beneath the great hulk.

No matter what the Saurus dd they were out skilled in the fight and many a blue warrior was cut down. The saurus however managed to kill the last of the warriors but now faced a wall of arrows. First one fell and swiftly the rest of Karnak's brothers were slain. It was after the ancient fighter was shot through the eye that Quik-Witi knew of his fate. Gaining the courage to charge the Elven battle line, Quik-Witi gave one final screech and charged forward. The priest didn't even get a chance to react as the arrow pierced his throat.
