Finally finished painting my Corpse Cart (and my first painted model of 2015).
I originally started painting this to use in the Sigmar's Blood scenarios, but now I am tempted to give it a field test in the second round of the Escalation League.
I think next on my list is to get a better digital camera, and perhaps better lighting too.
I've posted my battle reports from the MKWGW Escalation League at http://hoagys.blogspot.co.uk/.
Alex has posted his on his blog at http://www.grizzk.blogspot.co.uk/.

Enjoy!
The green tide rises - before ebbing very quickly!
It was, Gazerbeam reflected, a good day to go in search of Mork's Cup which was rumoured to be in these parts. Or was it Gork's. Either way time to go find it.
So he bullied a couple of mobs of night goblins making sure they had some of those whirling crazies with them and three somewhat dim witted Trolls he'd seen nearby, just in case he bumped into trouble , since he'd heard rumours of foul rat vermin in these parts.
And sure enough he soon bumped into three huge blocks of them walking menacingly towards him.
Staring a bit harder he noticed two were groups of what appeared to be scruffy unkempt creatures but the middle group looked like they may be dangerous.
Well he mused, "I can send the crazies against those scruffy lot and the Trolls will keep me safe". Smug in the strength by his side he waited to see what would happen next.
Whoosh - Bang! From nowhere a rocket soared across the space between the two armies completely obliterating most of the group of night goblins on his left. "Hmmm I wasn't expecting that" he thought. But they're only night goblins and the few left have decided to stay around and more importantly those crazies are still with them.
So lets see what these crazies really can do. "Waaagh" he shouted rushing forward. The night goblins followed, the Trolls decided to sit down and pick their noses instead.
Getting close to the rats - the crazies were given a last mushroom and pushed out - three obligingly went spinning through the rats in front of them causing no small amount of carnage, the fourth stayed whirling worryingly close to the front of the undamaged unit of night goblins.
Undaunted he called down his mighty powers to send beams of green death scouring through the ranks of the vermin opposite only to find his power suddenly thwarted, the beam dying in his eyes. And to make matters worse, he'd rather left himself standing out in the open and those rats were charging straight at him!
Oops he though time to flee. The rats crashed into what was left of the night goblins on his left (well right now he was running away) and those hot on his heels ran into what were now somewhat irritated Trolls
He, however, was putting on a good pace to stay safe!
Well not surprisingly the few night goblins on the left (now right) crumpled and were cut down, but sadly the Trolls, despite squishing swathes of the rats, decided the numbers facing them were too many and without his words of encouragement decide to flee. To no avail - they were buried under a tide of snarling rats.
Oh ho though Gazerbeam - this doesn't look good
And it wasn't. Instead of whirling to his rescue the crazies continued spinning away into the sunset, bothering no one and the one that had been nearby, harmlessly stepped out of everyone's way. Seizing their chance the big unit of night goblins sprang forward and put the unit of rats opposite them to flight.
And that was the last he knew.
Caught from behind he was torn to shreds. Chittering hordes, sensing victory whirled and assaulted the remaining night goblins. Despite jabbing 15 spears at the swirling mass in front of them the night goblins failed to kill a single rat, their own numbers being reduced only by 2, but without Gazerbeams stalwart (not) courage and facing unsurmountable odds their nerve, tiny as it was, gave and they were torn to shreds.
"Damn rats, Gork where were you" was the last thought in Gazerbeams head as the green glow faded from his blood red eyes, shortly before a passing rat ate them!

Where are the Gutter Runners? Edd's Skaven Vs. Jim's Dwarves
It was a great battle between Jim and myself resulting a draw in Jim's
favour. Jim's Thunders cut down huge swathes of ratmen and my Gutter
Runners eventually took down his general and war machine. The highlights
for me were my Warlock Piff's tactical withdraw with a single slave,
which prevented Jim from claiming points for destroying the unit and
Scurry my general being hard as nails and surviving three (or two I
can't remember) rounds of combat. The full Skaven battle report can be found
here: http://scurryaway.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/skaven-vs-dwarves-round-one-mk-wargames.html

The Battle of the Vampire Coast!
The battle lines were drawn and the hoard was coming over the ruined temple of the Sun Soaked Isle. The dreaded Necromancer known for his sorcery and despoiling of the Lizardmen's jungle home was the only thing that Lord Rib-Tet was concerned about. Looking into his dreams, he saw that the Lustrian Jungle would be taken over by the craving flesh hungry zombies lead by the fiend if not dealt with straight away.
Lord Rib-Tet gave a single glance towards his blessed servant Quik-Witi and he immediately nodded. Marching down the giant steps of the temple pyramid he gave one shriek to the mass gathered below and like a well oiled machine the 20 chosen Saurus gathered at the foot of the mighty monolith lead by Karak a venerated champion of his kinds. Quik-Witi gave the ancient warrior a quick glance and Karnak snarled! Lifting his mighty axe up high and giving a bellowing roar, he was met by 19 golden spears lifted high into the sky and drumming on their death turtle shell shields. Quik-Witi lead the predatory warriors to the guardians of the engine sat aloft a great rock. The engine was sacred to the Lizardmen but he knew that it was his best hope of channeling the power of Chotec onto their foes. Fire cleanses all after all. As he chattered to his Skink brethren and they began tapping the rock, and the giant rad stone appeared to rise from the ground. Shaking from what had been a peaceful week long slumber, Ankelo rose and shook his fortified hide to his bludgeoning club like tail.
They marched for a day along the coast until they saw the undead hoard. Quik-Witi felt the evil trying to consume his body and mind but before the tendrils of death could take him, he looked to the ruined temple, where he saw a short Lustrian Bloat Toad. He glanced at it for but a moment and he felt his masters will over powering the Necromancer's ethereal claws. With a shriek the blue tide moved forward.
The dire wolves howled at the smell of rotten flesh as the fleshy hoard of zombies creeped forward inch by inch lead by the master of the dark arts. The hounds leaped forward bu then stopped as if being restrained on invisible leads. The mighty Bastiladon lumbered forward like a moving foretress as the enemies foul cart moved into position. Undaunted, (more likely unaware) Ankelo lowered his front to arch the machine at the undead mass that approached them. Karnak, along side Quik-Witi trenched forward behind Ankelo's great shield.
As the scaly forced approached, the Necromancer began to battle Quik-Witi on the Aestral plain. In a dazed and confused state, the Skink Preist could not focus his energy on the machine at first and so blessed his Saurus cousins with the feral strength that is given by Itzl to all of the cold-blooded beasts to be found in the tropical Lustrian Jungles. 20 ear shattering roars came up to try and intimidate their foes, but it only fell on death ears.
All of a sudden, Ankelo slumped, Quick-Witi noticing the Necromancer pointing his dreaded dagger at the majestic beast. The wolves sprang forward crashing into the Bastiladon's armour. Then the unthinkable happened, 52 zombies ran forward to try and take advantage of the crippled monster others being raised in their wake by the evil sorcerer. Standing just in time Ankelo's carers jumped at the wolves spiking one in the eye, the wolves tried to retaliate but all that was lost were a few fangs on the wolves part. Stomping on one and crushing another one with his tail, the usual gentle giant became a weapon of death. The zombies looked forward too a mighty feast of lizard flesh but Karnak's Saurus pierced the dead flesh with their spears. The fight raged on seeing more and more zombies crumble under the force of the reptilian glory.

The Necromancer gave a shriek of his own and disappeared leaving only a pile of dead corpses next to the fight. The Lizardmen had won this battle as Quik-Witi came to. Their home was safe once again... but for how much longer...

The Enemy is in sight. Dwarves vs Skaven (Jim & Edward)
My Lord
As the morning mist lifted our most honourable brothers made contact with the disease ridden filth of the Skaven Lord Scurry.
Having positioned our men, which consisted of two units of Thunderers, a bolt thrower and Engineer Harok, the enemy moved towards our lines showing their contempt for their lesser brethren sending them through the swamp. Several of their number were immediately and mercilessly sucked into the depths below. The clan rats moved around the swamp towards our lines whilst protecting their war machine. The filth that is Scurry led the way.
Our righteous brothers opened fire on the slaves with a warning shot deliberately placed over their heads. They did not heed this warning and continued on their march.
The Clan rats were not so fortunate with our secondary group of Thunderers taking a heavy toll of their number. Our bolt thrower skewered 4 of their of their diseased carcasses.
On they came. The slaves lost several more of their number to the swamp, with several more learning their lesson from our superb marksmanship. The clan rats continued in their march around the swamp. Again our thunderers thinned their number and once again our bolt thrower impaled 4 of them.
In true cowardly fashion the slaves, having now escaped the swamp threw their gaseous devices felling several of our number before running for the rear. In their haste several more were taken to the depths of the swamp, leaving only two of them. The clan rats attempted to charge but, showing fear of our troops failed to reach our lines. They were punished for the attempt dwindling their numbers.
All of our attention was now focused upon the clan rats and a terrible price they paid however, four of them including their warlord Scurry reached our lines. It was at that moment that the Gutter runners jumped from the shadows killing Engineer Harok in a storm of poisoned bullets. Scurry and his remaining rats killed several of our number and we remained locked in combat. Now the slaves were out of range, our thunderers turned to face the new threat of the Gutter runners who proceeded to slay our bolt thrower crew after a bitterly fought combat.
Our brave warriors locked in combat against Scurry decided to make a tactical withdrawal. Scurry was unable to keep up with our fleet footedness. Once we regrouped more fire was rained upon him however he withstood the fire storm. Hand to hand combat ensued and we captured they banner slaying all but Scurry. The Gutter runners too managed to survive the hail of bullets showing an agility that even the plague spawned rats could not comprehend.
This brought our engagement to a close and I regret to inform that Scurry escaped.
(Overall this was a draw. With only 40 points separating to the two armies. This was a great game to be a part of. Cheers Ed. Jim)
