Skarsnik to the rescue - eventually!

Warboss Spuzgob wasn't happy - or at least he was trying to act like he wasn't because that was what he was expected to do.  But inside his rough green interior he was sniggering like a snotling.  and all because of Skarsnik.

It had started a few days ago when Skarnik had strutted into the encampment with thousands of night goblins trailing after him and that monstrous Squig Gobbla at his side.  Supzgob shivered at the thought - it always looked like it really wanted to eat you and would do if Skarsnik gave it the nod.  And in fact it very often did.

Cocky little blighter ahd been poncing about the camp saying he would find Gork's (or was it Mork's) cup and had happily fed anyone who said he wouldn't do it to Gobbla.   So Spuzgob ahd just kowtowed - he knew when to grovel and faced with an irate night goblin with a socking great squig at his beck and call as well as  magical prodder was a good time to do just that.

So Skarsnik had gone off for a first search with a few of his gobbos.

And bumped into a group of dwarves - and it had all kicked off.

There's been quite a group of them by all accounts the Spuzgob strongly suspected it wasn't the thousands Skarsnik had claimed.  But since Skarsnik and Gobbla had emerged unscathed - well minus one melted prodder - Spuzgob wasn't going to call him a liar to his face.  You never knew what schemes that tricky little gobo had up his dark black sleeves.

Anyway the night gobbs had lined themselves up - spear chukka on the hill, doom diver in the valley and had legged it at the dwarves.  Their hatred for the beardy little runts boiling up inside.

And as usual the dwarves had let fly with all they had.  Which rather sadly was quite a lot.  Fortunaltey Skarsnik had dragged a shaman along who had cast a shroud of darkness of the mangel squigs, night goobbs and squigs, though a large bang and puff of green smoke had made him wobble rather badly.

Skarsnik had been nowhere to be seen at the time since the gobbos around him had kicked off in a big row about who had thrown Gobbla's poo at who.

Upshot was the Mangler squig had a few holes but was still whirling but the pump wagon looked more like green safety matches - though the green was mashed snotling not anything useful.  and still the lads raushed on, pausing only to watch a gobo sail overhead and splatter a bunch of iron breakers to cheers all round.

And then the same thing happened all again - the dwarves let rip, the mage covered everyone in cloud, only this time he went bang and totally exploded; and a gobo whizzed overhead platted a few dwarves and Skarsnik - went nowhere, the pooh fight having degenerated even further not helped by Gobbla adding to it.  Oh and by this time the mangler squig had joined the pump wagon as a pile of blobbiness spread everywhere though a sort of a red colour which made a nice change from green.

The squig hoppers had then suddenly swerved instead of piling into the ranks of dwarves (rolled to short) and had stood there snarling defiantly - helped by a wolf chariot arriving in the flanks ..

Only to be surprised when the dwarves had all rushed forwards.  which wouldn't have been to bad but the gobbos behind them had let fly the loonies - one going straight through the squig hoppers.

And then it all got a bit messy.

The iron breakers annihilated the squigs and turned to join the rest of the battle.

The dwarf warriors had seen off the squig hoppers - helped by a fanatic mowing through the boss - and taking out a few dwarves in the process - before they'd twice charged and seen off the mob of night gobbos behind them.  And all the while Skarnik had been shoutint at his mob going nowhere; and goblins had been sailing overhead splattering dwarves left right and centre.

Finally  - so the rumours wnet, Skarnik had finally got order in his mob and marched forward so angry that when he let rip with his magic prodder as well as wiping out the last of the dwarf warriors it had melted the prodder as well!

Spuzgob roared with laughter finally unable to help himself.  He quickly shouted at the nearest gobbo and told him to stop laughing and swatted the unfortunate gobbo hard just to emphasise the point in case Skarsnik had been watching.

And that pretty much had been it.  The doom diver finally splattered all the iron breakers before it had exploded in a flurry of elastic, wood and sliced goblin and Skarsnik had declared a moral victory and marched off with the two large mobs of night gobbs and left the much reduced Dwarf band behind.

And it might have been a moral victory, but for the fact the Dwarves had waved two banners at Skarsnik and hurled insults at his retreating back just to underline who had really won here.

Result victory Dwarves.

The Winds of Magic Unleashed

The tranquil setting provided a setting for the rest point of Lord Rib Tec and his marching troops. Realising for them that the constant war machines that were the Saurus would never stop until told (even if they were exhausted), the Slann telepathically instructed his Skink servant to hold the march. Obeying his master, the white skinned Skink Priest hissed to the mighty warriors to hold their ground and bask in the much warmer heat of the low sun. The mighty soldiers halted and like statues, did not move from the spot they were instructed to.
The army enjoyed a moment of peace after so much bloodshed in their last battle against the evil Ratmen and their defiled corpses. Zaki was still shaken from the transformation of his cousins into his hated enemy before his eyes and wondered what menace they had to play on the world yet to come. Since their last fight, Lord Rib Tec had lead with his wisdom and had replenished their dwindling numbers. The addition of a mighty living fortress carrying a solar engine to provide more energy to the troops around him, the Bastiladon was a welcomed sight to the scaled warriors. Also the Temple City’s Recorder of the Plan had come along through with the Bastiladon to ensure its safety. Trix was not like Zaki, in he had grown more arrogant with age. Being the eldest Priest of the City had made him Zaki’s superior, but that did not mean that Zaki and Trix were the closest of brethren. Trix had always been one to sit at the back of the board where Zaki had been the trail blazer of his kind, leading from the front. A final member of the army was the Scar Veteran Har Baq, a warrior blessed with the markings of the Old Ones and that possessed blistering pace. Like his kin, he was loyal to his Lord and marched alongside the Temple Guard surrounding him. The great warrior wielded a golden weapon that was said to be blessed with speed from the temple of Itzi and an enchanted shield made from the shell of a long extinct creature known as a Diamond Fang, a swamp dwelling turtle like creature that could survive the searing heat of the pools it inhabited.
Suddenly looking to the sky, Zaki noticed something sweep over head with unholy speed with a mighty screech! Zaki paniced as he sensed the winds of magic shift to the South West (as was his atunment to the winds). He had sensed this before when facing the foul humanoids from the South Coast of Lustria. The clouds began to gather over the small force and darken the sun. The shriek came once again and the large object landed behind the tree line just out of his sight, yet some sort of gargantuan wings had landed it there. Looking at his Lord upon his magical pool, he noticed that he was staring straight to the monument straight ahead.
What emerged sent the frill on Zaki’s head to quiver, but he held his ground. The Skink Priest readied his staff and prepared to invoke the power of the Old Ones, but he felt Trix, pull him back and take position for battle. Opposite them was a horde of zombies with a caster of the evil magic that was animating the tortured souls. On the opposite side of the monument was a unit of skeletons that held their shields and swords up in a silent battle cry to walk forward. Too the horde of zombies right was a unit of cavalry decorated in glorious death rags with skeletal warriors a top them and lead by what Zaki could see, 2 Vampires.
“No. I will lead my kin. Long have I waited this moment to serve my Lord and you have made it clear there is nothing to it.” Zaki stood down obeying his superior’s wishes. Rib Tec telepathically instructed the troops to form. His unit of Temple Guard, Har Baq and Rib Tec himself took the monument opposite the undead horde. On his left positioned the great Bastilidon and 20 of the finest Saurus warriors to its left. To Rib Tec’s right was 10 of his best hunters with their javelins tipped in poison ready to bring down their foes. Finally the crazed Ripperdactyls deployed on the far side.

Zaki looked at the Mage Priest as he saw the Winged Frenzys lined up and took flight for the first time. He understood how these creatures worked best and the army must have deployed a Bloat Toad somewhere for them to hunt. The Slann just gazed straight to the monument where he saw a humanoid with a staff. Around him the horde of zombies groaned in agony at their masters will to deny them their eternal rest. Nothing diverted Rib Tec’s attention from the Necromancer, nothing threw his concentration as a battle on the battlefield commenced.
The Skeletons moved up and so did the Black Knights while the Zombies moved forward to compensate the units all around them. Zaki then looked to the forest as a large winged figure flew over the top of the tree line and screeched at the skinks in front of it killing 4. The winged bat- like creature was followed by green foul looking Ghouls thirsting for flesh. The hooded figure then pointed to a spot behind his unit and emerged more poor souls to torcher. The Skink priest felt their pain but Rib Tec was unflinched. The winged beast was so threating to Trix that he retretated to the safety of the Bastiladon’s protective presence.
Rib Tec then blinked and the sky’s above the Bastiladon began to clear, allowing the sweet rays of Chotec to be absorbed by the Solar Engine. Inhaling the solar beams and the winds of magic Rib Tec’s eyes began to glow with the colours of all 8. With a glance to the Bat creature, a set of clouds gathered above it. Snow began to fall on the creature and what was once a pleasant summer’s breeze suddenly turned to ice cold gusts. As it roared in anger a lightning bolt struck it but seemed to do nothing. I was here that was the fall of Trix. In an attempt to cast an even stronger bolt, the priest struck twice and failed to notice the ground opening up beneath him. The bolts did nothing to the creature and Trix was absorbed into the Earth and disappeared. Sensing the loss on one of his servants, the Slann temporarily lost focus but for a second, but shook off the pain. Angered, the Slann glanced into the large creature’s soul. Taking an ethereal form, the Slann flew over to grab hold of the creature’s mystical energies and tore his hand from its chest. The beast slumped but was still moving as it regenerated some of the soul that the Slann had ripped out. Returning to his body, Rib- Tec clenched his webbed hand to form a fire ball. With a breath, the Ancient Wizard created an even greater ball of flame and threw it at the unholy creature. With a last cry, the Terrorgheist burst into flames eradicated. Turning his attention to the large unit of knights, Rib Tec then levelled himself to the Golden plane. Sensing the armour worn by the undead warriors, his eyes began to glow brighter and brighter and Zaki witnessed two of the knights seer and fall off their horses, the others were un concerned. Upon finishing unleashing his full magic potential, the Slann diverted his gaze back to the evil sorcerer that stood before him. The face of the wicked wizard more focused and annoyed than he had before the battle.

Shouting to his band of skeletal knights, the Necromancer ordered them to hit the Temple guard hard and fast and calling a mighty charge the nightmarish legions galloped forward. One of the Vampires raised his sword to the gap in the clouds created by the Slann. The sun turned a dark shade of purple and came down to touch the ground. With a blood crazed scream, the Vampire set a beam of light back at the Lizardmen line and took down 15 Saurus. Absorbing their souls, the Necromancer shivered with power and began to raise more dead to halt the Lizardmen advance.

Rib Tec spared a second to look over to his right and then with a blink turned to face the Necromancer once again. Noticing the Skeletons were coming up fast the Saurus warriors marched to meet them head on. To provide extra protection, the Slann targeted them to experience the Colds of winter, their bones creaking under the frost bite. The Slann then turned his gaze to the large unit of knights and once again his eyes began to glow with a white light. Using the exorcism magic that he had been using for millennia against the Daemons that tried to invade his City, the Slann again banished 4 knights to the grave from which they came. He followed this up with melting the units armour once again until only 2 Black Knights and the 2 Vampires were left. The Slann then turned to the Necromancer and attempted to enter his sould to take it and end this battle before any more precious lives were lost. The Necromancer however managed to keep the Mage Priest at bay. Thanking that the worst was over the Vampires lined up to finally get to their goal. However the Bastiladon was manoeuvred to face the unit and was hit with a fraction of Chotec’s power as the engine felled the rest of the unit. As the magical battle was going on, the Ripperdactyls had found their target and sniffed out the Lustrian Bloat Toad planted by some of Zaki’s brethren. Crashing into the flank of the Zombies, one of the aerial predators began to consume corpses. In a frenzied state black blood spilled all over the temple, but the Undead horde just continued to face forward without caring any for their fallen. To the right of the battlefield Zaki noticed the Ghouls who remained untouched. However he also saw his kin move into a better vantage point to throw their javelins reducing the unit slowly but surely.

In an attempt the Necromancer attempted to move his unit away from the Ripperdactyls that threatened his unit but having the sent of the Bloat Toad is not an easy sent to erase…
The 5 remaining Saurus in the meantime met the skeletons in the middle of the field and began to fight it out only managing to knock down 2 of the undead warriors. Outnumbered, the Saurus fought hard with every bit of strength they could muster. Zaki watched their battle unravel and eventually he saw their primeval fury win as all 5 Saurus turned away from the pile of bones they left to target the Necromancer.
Ordering his Unit forward the Slann moved forward to try and get closer to the Evil Sorcerer. Sensing that their master was in trouble, the Ghouls charged towards the Slann just to be cut down by Har Baq and the Temple Guard before they had a chance to attack. One Ghoul thought to be dead leapt at one of the Slann’s prized bodyguards and killed him out right. The remaining creature was taken care of swiftly.

Looking at the Ripperdactyls from a far Zaki observed the unit of zombies get fewer and fewer, the Necromancer finally fell. With his demise the clouds cleared. The battle was over and the Lizardmen could continue their march.

Lord Rib Tec Arrives

Zaki bowed his head as Lar-ax dismounted from his Horned- One, the beast staring into the bubble with the same confusion that met most of his kind. Lord Rib-Tec emerged onto the battle field with his entourage of ancient bodyguards. Their weapons dared not to gleam under the clouds that gathered over head as the winds of magic began to succumb to Rib-Tec’s will. Zaki gazed to the heavens as all the colours of the winds seemed to spiral around his Lord’s presence.
Zaki had always strived to serve his Lord best he could and with the latest battles he lead his scaled brethren well. Now the Mage Priest himself was ready to set up a battle to break the End Times that soon loomed near. The battle field before him and his elite Saurus guard was that of metal and monsters. The metal clad ratmen were the staring directly at Lord Rib Tec and were defiling the air by just breathing it. To the East the monstrosities awaited. A heavy unit of massive Rat Ogres stood on the flank with one standing atop the largest as a mount. Their puss filled living corpses were over shadowed by the vile creation that towered over them, it’s skin stitched together with rope as it folded over and over again on itself. Bones perturbed out of its many limbs along with blades that shone a deathly green.

Looking to his own troops Lord Rib-Tec choose 26 of the finest Saurus warriors available to hold off the Rat Ogre horde along with a young vicious Stegadon to try withstand the inevitable onslaught of Skaven creatures. For the other side of the battle, 3 ripperdactyls to vanguard the attack.

The Ratmen chattered their battle cry and it insulted the amphibious lord. With a blink, he sent the winged beasts to fly behind the Storm Vermin to harass their flanks, the Saurus trenched forwards making a block of spears for the large Rat Ogres and the monstrous Hellpit along with the Stegadon to manouver into position for a devastating charge. Finally the Slann and his Temple Guard moved forward to meet the Skaven head on. With a gulp of the magical air around him he gave a slight glance at his foe and cursed them and all their defiled possessions.
The Ratmen returned the intimidation and stepped forward, the Monsters attempting to charge but slipping and sliding in the process. The Storm Vermin ran from the winged predators trying to take down the Slann and his devoted and make the most of their numbers which clearly outnumbered their enemy.

It was at this point the Ripperdactyls dived into the Storm Vermin’s rear and began to go into a fitted state of rage. Before the battle Ziki, Zaki’s Chieftain Brother had taken a unit of chameleon skinks and placed a series of lustrian bloat toads in the units nests to engross them with the sent of the Ripperdactyl’s most hated enemy. With a bellowing roar the Saurus and the Stegadon both charged head long into the Rat Ogre unit. The Skaven General moved with a grin on his face to face the young brash Stegadon head on. His weapon glowed almost as if it was ethereal, his eyes glowed with sneaky pride at the opportunity he had before him to add a new name to his. However today was not to be his day…
The horned beast charged into the Rat Ogre and threw the armed Ratman off his balance causing him to miss his blow. The Ogres returned the favour at the Saurus warriors and took down a score of the Lizardmen, but once again the resilient Saurus powered through with military persision and primeval fury. The Rat Ogres were cut down and run down by the scaled foot soldiers but they then faced the terror of the Hellpit that awaited them. It charged into the Saurus making short work of their numbers and then turned it’s attention to the stubborn Stegadon. Holfing it’s ground, the Stegadon fell under the crushing power of the unholy beast and it’s warpstone flails. Giving a bellowing raor it turned it’s attention to the magical energy that filled the air. Lord Rib-Tec was directly in its line of sight, and it was feeding time.

On the other flank the battle was far more one sided. The Skaven swung their halberds for the flying beasts but only managed to hit a few times, the unit being confused by the rear attack and trying to concentrate on the other unit in front of them. Just as the Ripperdactyls were cut down they were interrupted by the charge of the Slann’s temple guard. The combination of the Saurus mastery of their weapons and the Slann’s magic proved too much and the iron coated ratmen were cut down.

As the final rat was run down the Hell Pit made its move and moved towards Lord Rib Tec. Predicting the inevitable, the Slann gave life back to his ancient warriors who had fallen in the battle to protect him, his devoted slaves complying without question as death did not stop their sacred duty. The Saurus were also blessed with great speed and skills from their ancestors, they took the charge of the monstrosity and returned the blows with the golden weapons.

The creature fell… but as like the Saurus, death did not keep the creature down. Raising its head, it gave a mighty cry and began to try hit the Temple Guard back. The Revered Guardian of the unit stepped forward and struck his halberd down upon the neck of the Hellpit. The ground opened beneath the beast as a small swarm of rats came to try and fend off the Lizardmen and it was only as the last of the swarms were killed off, did they notice that the unholy body of the Hellpit had been taken. The Skaven had managed to take their beast back… Their experiment to perfect… Zaki looked on from his hill top and all he could think of was not how his Lord had performed in the battle, not of relief for his brother being safe… but of questions that floated around his mind… how many of those things were there? And how many would he need to kill himself?

Warboss Spuzgob's Trouble Continue

What, what, what ...

Spuzgob's roars of disbelief could be heard all over the camp and all greenskins, except for the vey biggest looked nervously about them.  Shouts like that could only mean one fing- bashin time!

Spuzgob glared at the veteran night goblin, who despite all his sneaky attempts seemed to come back from every battle - without his army true - but alive none the less.

"Lets 'ear dis one den" snorted Spuzgob.

"Well", the night goblin beagn "It wuz like die..."

"We wuz goin' along looking for Gork (or mebbe its Mork's) goblet thingy when all ov a sudden we comez across anovver mob o' ladz.  Well they wurn't nun ov us, so dey can't o been up to any good, could dey.

So dat big balck orc boss you don sent got da ladz lined up good and proper.

And dey all linz up on da udder side

Well den we all just goes fer it.  It wuz crazy - dey got loadza shaman - green bolts kickin off everywhere.  Well I sez we goes fer it - me and de ladz had a bit er an argument as did dem orcs wot woz wiv der boss.  He gev a good slap ter sort it out and we all settled.  But dem black orcs, dey just went on marchin.

But de crazy ladz in em chariots got ahead and demz uvvers started poppin arrers at de black orcs.  But de little loonies on der wagon squished loadz o spiders and de big squig nuttas done gone squished some pig boyz.

Well me and de ladz 'ad piled inter a uge loadda gobbos and it were crazy fer a bit but den dey ran away and me and de ladz follows, catches em and dat scares off der gobbos wiv der bowz.  So dat wuz good.  well except for dem big carzy squigs goin' after 'em!

But da boss and dem orcs - dey got minced by dem big orcs in purple.  Dey woz fierce. ANd once dey done fer da boss dey goes fer dat rock lobba - but who cares it woz bloomin useless - only killed one gobbo!  Stones miles away or it wuz broke.

But den one of dem sneaky mages he lets off dis nasty cloud wot looks like a moon and it goes all over dem black orcs and dey just drop dead see.  Only woz one left 'er dem - eh was proper mad.  He wuz going ter rip de head of da mages, when one blew up and der little guys got da udder wiv da wagon.

So den me and da crazy black orc and da wagon we goes off after dem orcs.  We'd seen two Trolls around too, but dey wuz just munchin grass all game so wez left 'em alone.  They can be right fierce when cross.

One a de wolf lot 'ad a go at 'em big orcs, but dey just mashed  'em up - et da dogz en all!

So dat black orc he goes fer all dem big orcs on his own - well dat don't end up well and they'ze right after him; when we decided it wuz best to come back and tell you wot 'appened and dat's how it wuz.

Spuzgob looked at the night goblin, who shofter nervously and with a mighty roar Spuzgob swung his axe and split two goblins who just happened to be passing in two.

"Ow come" growled Spuzgob "Yer always getz yer sneaky hide back 'ere"

"Just lucky I guess boss" replied the night goblin.

The Old Enemy

The crystal blue sky pleased Zaki. It brought him memories of what his ancestors had taught him in his youthful life. He enjoyed the bright star and all the life it gave his fellow scaled journeymen and the other youthful creatures that relied on its ever watchful gaze. Sitting cross clawed he began to meditate to communicate with his lord back in Lustria. Looking back he saw his brother Zik, his arm bleeding from the fall of his proud steed in the battle against the younger race.
"Any word brother?"
"I am about to try." Hissed Zaki to his Chief brother. "Tend to the others. All life is precious to try and maintain this foothold and carry out our Lords plan." Before he turned to carry out the Priest's wish, he struck his chest and bowed in respect to the general's efforts. He had done well, none of his kind had ever managed to hold a position such as this at a time of need. He demanded nothing but determination from his kin and they all respected him for it. He knew their strengths and their weaknesses and he knew all would give their lives to try and stop the evil that his master had sent him there to eliminate.

Gazing at the sun he closed his eyes, the towering saurus warriors guarding him in each direction. Suddenly Zaki was transported through space and time itself and emerged in his home land as a spiritual messenger. Lord Rib-Tec was sat upon his lily pad in the middle of his meditation pool.
"Your work is not complete my humble servant" an echoing croak filled the chamber. Zaki knelt in shock. Rib-Tec had never spoken to anyone this way in centuries. This was an honour for the Preist but his head was throbbing from the power that the Slann used to communicate with him. "The old enemy is gathering a small force to the West of your current location. The plagued ones will soon take your position if you do not act quickly! Return and destroy our old foe and make ready for war. Zaki showed the same respect as Zik had shown him not too long ago and he traveled back to his body.

Hissing, Zaki gathered his soldiers to his side and ordered his brother to return and gather new troops. Opening a gate to his home, Zik asked his brother what he wished him to send. Zaki looked at his brother and hissed two names subtly. "Lar-ax... Trox."

The ground festered beneath the lizards feet, the tunnels made the rocks feel like soil. Opposite them a sea of evil contraptions and chattering teeth met Zaki's gaze.

Looking around he saw no sign of the reinforcements that his small force needed to defeat the foe. There was no time to waste, and ordered his Ripperdactyls forward and into the air to deal with the warmachines as they did before. Launching forward the 10 skinks and 20 suarus began to march forward.

Suddenly another portal opened and out walked a behemoth of a creature. Three horns protruded from his heavily armored skull and the powerful muscles rocked back and fourth as it emerged from the shadow. A proud and aggressive stegadon, a young bull from a local heard known as Trox entered the battlefield alongside the saurus. Behind him was a large bipedal figure whom Zaki recognized straight away. Lar-ax, a great Scar-Vetran from many wars against the Skaven strode next to the skinks atop of a horned one. This rare beast was now thought to be extinct at the hands of the evil ratmen. Lar-ax had been blessed by Itzil and had raise the predator from birth.

As the rippers moved forward they were met by a sea of giant rats. These were notorious in Lustria for getting into the temple cities but they were rarely caught out in the open as they were now. Seeing the small morsals, the aerial beasts landed to snap up a snack, raring for the fight against the war machines their rides were not as impressed but could not control their mounts. The rats took a chunk out of the wings of one of the Ripperdactyls but they retaliated by sheer ferocity. snapping necks and slashed furry flesh left the fight on going and giving the Rippers a lovely meal.

Looking on at the mass gathered opposite him, Zaki began to see the work of a Ratman who followed the Lore of the Horned rat. This was deadly as Zaki had seen it before, scales could turn to fur and brothers turn on each other. This he could not allow. Summoning a bolt of pure evil, the Grey Seer launched an attack that fortunately was ineffective against the scaled saurus warriors. However something wasnt right. The Seer seemed to spazuim as Zaki's eyes gleamed. He then saw a small explosion and a great bang as a chunk of the Seer's unit were thrown into the air around him. This was a sign from Sotek himself that this day would be theirs! Another crash of lightning punched a hole through the suarus warriors to far greater effect and a smoking barrel pointed toward their direction... The distraction had worked and the Ratmen had a fully operational warmachine to pick off their opponents. Neither the less, Zaki ordered them forward.

The Ripperdactyls broke through the small morsals and targeted their original target after the huge eruption their felt in the air. Taking to the wing once again they continued their hunt. Lar-ax trotted to keep up with the winged terrors but made sure he was not in the way of their rage path. The saurus also moved forward along with the rest of the army providing they stayed out of the way of the mighty stegadon to their right.

The Rat men had to do something quick and the warp  lightning cannon pointed to the Ripperdactyls that were almost upon them. With a squeek, then a click... something went wrong and the cannon fired towards their own troops blowing another set out of their formations. This allowed the birds the chance to dive in and enjoy another feast. Zaki spotted the Grey Seers eyes burning and pointing towards the saurus block followed by a mighty screetch!
He turned to his brothers and saw them spout more horns and fur... in horror he saw at least half of the warriors clutch their stomachs in pain and proud roars turning to sqwaks and squeeking. Zaki ordered Trox into the combat!

The ground shook and the mighty creature lowered his head impaling four rats as it entered a sea of rats! The Ripperdactyls on the right flank made short work of the cannon and turned their attention to the mele in the middle of the canyon. The rats were not phased by Trox and all wielded their weapons with martail accuracy. Finding soft spots in his armor, Trox and his handlers retaliated with clubbing blows. Just as they gained the upper hand another wave of rats charged the side of the proud beast! A battle ensued that began to grind the stegadon down, but resilience is what his kind were known for. Trox held the line and continued to fight.

Zaki looked back and saw his fallen brothers in a mutated heap, some still shaking from twisted energies. Looking at his saurus champion, he nodded. This was nothing new for the ancient fighter and he ordered his saurus into the frey to help their relic beast. The battle was bloody and losses were many. The ratmen were skewered , saurus were felled but in the end the scaled servants of the old ones prevailed.

The rats fled the battle and were cut down. Uxotal and his chameleons had been working the rear of the Skaven's army, a trick that had been faithful to Zaki's plans thus far. They had eliminated an important Skaven member and had now lent their blowpipes to cutting the Grey Seers troops down along with the evil sorcerer.

The rest of the Skaven managed to get away. This was a problem. Zaki's element of surprise was gone. The enemy knew of his presence. But as he looked at the bodies of his lost brothers and their mounts, he heard a loud croaking echo.

"Prepare for my arrival..."
